IF YOU ARE GETTING TIRED OF LISTENING TO A HUNDRED BANDS ALL TRYING TO SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF BANDS WHO HAVE MADE THE BIG- TIME BY TRYING TO SOUND LIKE THE PREVIOUS CROP OF BIG- LABEL BANDS.. WELL YOU GET THE PICTURE: THIS CD THROWS SO MANY MUSICAL CURVEBALLS THAT YOU CAN GET QUITE A VARIETY JUST FROM LISTENING TO A MINUTE OR TWO. A LOT OF FUN.

No, no, it’s not a new AA Kismet record (there’s not enough justice in the world for that to happen). This is the second classic opus from this overcharged collaboration between Bob Drake (Thinking Plague, 5UU’s, Hail) and Lukas Simonis (Vril, Perfect Vacuum, etc. etc. etc.). I’m a big Drake fan, but somehow I didn’t have this album yet. I just grabbed it for peanuts at Verge Music (they’re having a big clearance sale, check it out). It’s not one of Bob’s best productions, but what a delightful record of twisted, absurd, and side-splitting pop songs. Drake and Simonis are doing their twin-one-man-band act and trading off lead vocals. File under zany rock-in-opposition or avant-surf, for lack of a unique, custom-fit category!
